Pat Jeflyn from CBC Windsor did a lovely piece about my upcoming trip.   The clip talks about the project and my plans – they even included a time-lapse of me putting my Aliner trailer up (which takes a mere minute).  …and check out the awesome plug made by anchor Susan Pedler at the end!  Thanks, ladies!!

Sandi you rock! Great CBC TV piece, great Route 66 article, and why not? Great photographer. In deference to the CBC anchor, I own 4 Wheatons and they are on my walls. Looking forward to this project and reading all about your travels. Looking forward to liquid refreshments with you at the Beer Hunter in La Quinta. You have a place to stay here in Indio if you need to refresh yourself and supplies. Oh, and once again I find that you have inspired my own photography, thanks. So many projects, so little time.

Doug, I’ll definitely be taking you up on that – thanks!!

Hi Sandi! We too are in the planning stages of making this trip in September 2010. As a fellow photographer, I look forward to following you and this great adventure! Best of luck and safe travels!

So glad to have found your blog. Mar from Van Dwellers recommended it. Are you aware there is a yahoo group dedicated to Route 66 travel?

I have just gotten off the road for a while … and can hardly wait to read your adventures!

If you stay at more truck stops you will soon find out that trucker you found annoying, with his engine running all night, is not being annoying. He’s doing what truckers do–run their engines all night for heat, AC, etc.

If you stay at truck stops, you either learn to put up with it or will learn to find places to park away from trucks.

What a great introduction! This sums up your start perfectly, I think.

  10. Sandy Melendez Says:

Just wondering how far you have gotten in your travels.?

  11. sandi Says:

    Hi Sandy -

I’m just leaving Illinois. There should be a little map on the right that shows you my general whereabouts. Missouri tomorrow, yay!

  12. Sandy Melendez Says:

FYI……. When you get into Oklahoma, the road turns into a toll road. Think we paid about $15 to Oklahoma City. The very First Visitor center you come to is VERY SMALL and was closed by the time we got there after dark. The parking lot WAS NOT LITE AT ALL!! Soooo, you may want to do some planning ahead of time.
Just my 2 cents, Be Safe,
    Sandy
