Sandi, I definitely wish you the right buyer! What's right for you is right for that person or people. My daughter, Jolinda, in Ketchum, Idaho, also has her place up for sale. Freedom is our most important asset!

Jane, it would be hard to get enough rent for this property to really cover the costs safely... but also, it's a matter of lack of flexibility. Whatever I end up doing, as long as I have the house, I am tied here. And let's say some awesome opportunity comes up and I want to leave this area, then I would have a house probably less desirable than it is now, since tenants would have been living in it, and then I'd have to get the thing ready for sale and sell it, etc... all that is too much work and time to be able to really seize any opportunity that may arise that involves moving, say. Every time I analyze my options, I always end up concluding that I need to sell. So, it is on the market now. Wish me luck!!

Yes, I saw you in the video, Sandi. I was glad to read in this post about your past education and work. No wonder you are now so good at doing what you are doing. A book with all the photos and everything you have written in this blog would be killer for a coffee table. Just recently, down at the port, a guy was wearing a Rt. 66 shirt. Of course I had to speak with him.

If you really like your real estate, perhaps there is a way to keep it while you still do what you want to do--like lease it?

Wow! Am I to understand that you had a showing in Palm Springs, California, Sandi? Ouch! I left Los Angeles on June 8 and picked my daughter up at the SEA/TAC airport in the afternoon of June 10. Because of Husky and Ready, I always drive everywhere I go. I was just wondering about cleaning the window when you explained.

Such an awesome post! Yes, out on the road, we do see the best in each other. I have just been reading an opinion about the 'end of capitalism.' I realize that I haven't a clue as to the economic systems in any country but my own. This economic system most likely began to fail with deregulation. Because teaching provided me with a state pension instead of social security, I'm okay. But I'm definitely scaling down and needing to help one of my self-employed daughters who has many less clientele than previously. We should have bailed out those who needed to pay the banks and let the banks get their money that way. When we sign notes, we create money for the banks. Who knew?!

Sandy, the post of technicalities of photography on your trip is my favorite so far. I can't believe it took me 7 months to read it. I'm in Washington on San Juan Island. There is a dog park now, perfect for Ready, who is only 1-1/2. Husky is 12. He doesn't need the dog park, but he still enjoys it.

I finished my dissertation, and it was accepted by the U. of Sedona, so I will be going to Arizona to accept my Ph.D., September 14. On the way I'll visit my daughter Jolinda in Sun Valley, Idaho. I'll stay here for the beginning of the school year, September 1, to meet teachers and principals. My contract for 2010-2011 is with the San Juan Island School District, to substitute. However, I might spend a while in Los Angeles, since my birthday and that of my grandson and great granddaughter are in October. Then, Thanksgiving is in November, Christmas in December. But I think I need to get back here before Interstate 5 is treacherous. I'm not sure when that will be.

I'll write again after I catch up with your posts.
